Accomodations
From Wiki Costa Rica
From most expensive to cheapest, these are the options:
- Hotels: Beach Hotels, City Hotels, Mountain Hotels
- Bed & Breakfast
- Cabins
- Hostels
- Rooms and guest houses: especially in rural areas and small towns, ask if any family rents rooms or beds.
- Camping
Staying at guest houses have the additional benefit of purchasing cheap and authentic Costa Rican food, and get to know local people. On the other hand, staying at Hostels have the benefit of making friends with other backpackers and travelers and the chance of forming a bigger tour party and share destinations information.
Note: The term 'Motel' has a different meaning to Costaricans: it is indeed a small hotel, but it refers to rooms that have a private garage and private service. They are usually used just a few hours at a time, especially for romantic encounters.
