This park has 52 square kilometers and has one of the richest biodiverse areas of the country. Carara means crocodile in indigenous language.

It is home of spider monkeys, poisonous frogs, a numerous birds. It is common to see pairs of red macaws flying together.

It has many trails for tourists, one of them is 8km long.

Many one day tours are available, departing from San Jose.
