The National Parks of Costa Rica is under the administration of the Environmental and Energy Ministry also known as "MINAE". The specific department is National Conservation Areas System or "SINAC".
There are 11 conservation areas which are administrated regionally and divided into National parks, Biological Reserves and Wildlife Refuges.
There are some private reserves, like Monteverde and Santa Elena.
