Many visitors come to Costa Rica exclusively to surf. Costa Rican beaches offer many choices at both coastlines. The beauty of the beaches, the size of the waves and the temperature of the water are very attractive to many surfers that come every year.

The water temperature year-round is between 75ºF and 85ºF, so wet suits are not needed.

North of Nicoya are most of the best beaches for surfing. Almost all air transportation companies will allow surfboards as luggage and will not charge any fee.

Beaches like Jaco and Tamarindo have surf shops.
