General Information
The airport formerly known as Liberia International Airport is located 217 Km (135 miles) northwest of San José it is very near the beaches of Guanacaste. It has good connections to US, Canadian cities and several European and South American countries. There is a departure tax of around US$ 26.00 on international flights.
The airport consists of a two story building with outdoor shaded seating area. On the ground floor you will find the airline desks for check in and a Money Exchange.
Upstairs are the bathrooms and a small cafe, as well as the Airport Administration Office and a couple of airline offices.
Taxis wait out front for passengers.
A bus for the airport leaves from the northside of the main church at 5:30, 7:30, 8:30 and 9:30 AM and then at 13:30, 14:30, 15:.30 and 17:30.
The same bus returns from the airport to town at 6, 8, 9 and 10 AM and then at 2, 3, 4 and 6 PM.
